PRODUCT FEATURES

The Crémant d’Alsace Brut "Mayerling" from Cave de Turckheim is one of Alsace's most iconic and appreciated sparkling wines. This Traditional Method (or Méthode Traditionnelle) stands out for its extremely refined and balanced profile, capable of challenging many Champagnes in elegance, while maintaining the freshness and varietal typicity of Alsatian grapes.

Cave de Turckheim - Crémant d’Alsace AOC "Mayerling" Brut

The Mayerling Brut is the flagship of Cave de Turckheim's sparkling wine production. Made from a skillful blend of Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois, this Crémant comes from vineyards located on predominantly calcareous soils, which give the wine a solid structure and a distinct minerality. The name "Mayerling" evokes nobility and tradition, reflecting the style of a sparkling wine that makes finesse its distinctive feature. Thanks to a prolonged aging on lees, the Mayerling manages to combine the crispness of white fruit with evolved pastry notes, resulting in a creamy, taut, and highly drinkable sip.

Sensory Profile It presents a brilliant straw yellow color and an extremely fine, persistent, and lively perlage. The intensity on the nose is surprising: fresh notes of green apple, pear, and orange blossoms harmonize with fragrant hints of bread crust, brioche, and a touch of fresh almond. On the palate, the attack is frank and clean; the bubbles are silky and well integrated, supported by a vibrant freshness that carries the sip to a long, savory, and pleasantly citrusy finish.

Winemaking and Aging The grapes are harvested manually and pressed with extreme delicacy. After the first fermentation in steel at controlled temperature, the cuvée is created. Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the traditional method, followed by aging on lees for at least 12-15 months. This resting period in the cellar allows the wine to acquire complexity and that carbonic softness that makes it so harmonious.

Food Pairings Mayerling is an eclectic wine. Perfect as a classy aperitif, it pairs wonderfully with fish-based appetizers, quiche lorraine, seafood tartare, and crustaceans. Its acidity and structure also make it ideal to accompany an entire meal, especially with not-too-spicy Asian cuisine, fried fish, or soft cheeses.
