Colombo Sormani's Sassella Rosso di Valtellina RISC DOC is made from Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes grown on the terraced vineyards of the Sassella subzone, among the most renowned in Valtellina. Vinification takes place in steel tanks, followed by aging in wood to preserve freshness and typical characteristics. It has a brilliant ruby red color; the nose offers aromas of crisp red fruits, cherry, and raspberry, with floral notes and mineral hints. On the palate, it is agile, fresh, and harmonious, with delicate tannins and a savory finish that reflects the mountainous character of the region. An elegant yet immediate red wine, ideal with cured meats, traditional Valtellina pasta dishes, white meats, and semi-aged cheeses.
