PRODUCT FEATURES

Montezovo's Valpolicella Superiore 2023 represents the more noble and complex version of the classic Valpolicella, born from a careful selection of grapes from the Cottini family's hillside vineyards. Unlike the vintage version, the "Superiore" requires longer aging and a slightly higher alcohol content, offering a deeper tasting experience.

Montezovo - Valpolicella Superiore DOC 2023: Elegance and Structure

Montezovo's Valpolicella Superiore 2023 is a wine that focuses on the harmonious balance between fruit fragrance and complexity gained over time. Produced with the traditional blend of Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, this wine benefits from aging that softens its characteristics, making it a robust yet extremely refined red. The 2023 vintage allowed for excellent aromatic concentration, where the typical cherry notes of the region blend with more evolved and spicy undertones. It is the ideal wine for those seeking a full-bodied Veronese red, capable of gracefully accompanying an entire meal, standing out for its surprising clarity.

Sensory Profile In the glass, it presents an intense and brilliant ruby red. The bouquet is rich and well-defined: notes of ripe cherry, plum, and small red fruits dominate, enriched by a hint of black pepper, aromatic herbs, and a subtle trace of dark chocolate. On the palate, the entry is full and enveloping; the structure is supported by a fine and well-integrated tannic texture, balanced by a mineral freshness that makes the finish persistent and clean.

Winemaking and Aging Grapes are hand-picked at perfect ripeness. After fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged. To qualify as "Superiore," it ages for at least 12 months in wood (oak barrels of various sizes) and steel, followed by an additional period of rest in the bottle. This process allows the tannins to smooth out and the aromatic profile to acquire the spicy and tertiary notes that define its complexity.

Food Pairings An extremely versatile red, perfect with traditional Veronese first courses (such as bigoli with duck) and mushroom risottos. It pairs excellently with grilled red meats, roast veal, and beef tagliata. Also great with medium-aged cheeses, flavorful cured meats, and flavorful white meat main courses.
