PRODUCT FEATURES

The Kujira Ryukyu Whisky Inari is one of Kumesen Syuzo distillery's most balanced and accessible expressions. It is named after the Japanese deity "Inari," protector of rice and prosperity, paying homage to the fundamental raw material of this spirit: precious Indica rice.

Kujira - Inari Ryukyu Whisky

The Kujira Inari is a unique Single Grain Whisky, distilled entirely from rice fermented with black Koji and aged in selected American white oak barrels. Unlike traditional grain whiskies, rice provides a silky texture and natural sweetness that perfectly complements Okinawa's subtropical climate.

Aging in the Ryukyu Islands is characterized by high temperatures and humidity, which promote rapid maturation and intense extraction of aromas from the wood. The Inari was created to be a harmonious and versatile whisky, capable of maintaining the identity of rice distillate while offering the structure and complexity typical of an aged whisky.

Sensory Profile

  • Color: Light gold, brilliant and clear.

  • Nose: Delicate and fragrant. Fresh notes of green apple and pear are perceived, accompanied by hints of vanilla, custard, and a touch of acacia honey. A light floral note and white almond emerge on the finish.

  • Taste: On the palate, it is soft, almost buttery. The sweetness of the rice is well-balanced by hints of sweet oak, toasted cereals, and a touch of warm spices like ginger. The structure is light yet enveloping.

  • Finish: Clean, medium persistence, with a pleasant trail of vanilla and a very elegant woody touch.

Production Process Distilled in pot stills following the centuries-old Awamori tradition of Okinawa, Kujira Inari is then matured in white oak barrels. Although it does not declare a specific age (NAS - Non Age Statement), the blend is designed to ensure consistent quality and a profile that enhances the freshness and softness of the rice grain.

Serving Suggestions Thanks to its balanced nature, Kujira Inari is perfect to be enjoyed in various ways:

  • Neat: To appreciate the purity of the rice and the vanilla notes.

  • Highball: Lengthened with sparkling water and plenty of ice, following the Japanese style, for a refreshing drink that enhances the fruity notes.

  • Mizuwari: With the addition of still water to further soften the sip.
