PRODUCT FEATURES

The Barbera Nizza DOCG "Cascina Nuova" 2020 by Araldica represents the ultimate expression of Barbera in its chosen territory: the Nizza subzone, which has become an autonomous denomination to sanction the superior excellence of these lands. In this vintage, the wine achieves a masterful balance between structural power and evolving finesse, confirming itself as a red of great substance and longevity.

Araldica - "Cascina Nuova" Nizza DOCG 2020

The Nizza "Cascina Nuova" 2020 is the result of a rigorous selection carried out in the estate's best-exposed vineyards, where yields per hectare are kept extremely low to promote fruit concentration. The 2020 vintage offered ideal climatic conditions for Barbera, allowing for complete sugar and phenolic maturation. This wine embodies the noble soul of Monferrato: an intense, deep, and complex red, capable of evolving beautifully over time. Thanks to skillful aging in wood, the natural vivacity of Barbera is combined with spicy and tertiary notes, giving rise to a sumptuous and very elegant sip.

Sensory Profile It presents an impenetrable ruby red color, tending towards garnet with aging. The nose is an explosion of aromas: ripe morello cherry, wild blackberry, and plum jam stand out, followed by elegant notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, tobacco, and a slight balsamic nuance. On the palate, it is full, warm, and enveloping. The structure is imposing but balanced by the typical freshness of Barbera, which gives dynamism to the drink. The tannins are noble and polished, leading to a very long finish with spicy notes and hints of small dark fruits.

Winemaking and Aging Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with prolonged maceration on the skins to extract color and structure. After malolactic fermentation, the wine undergoes an aging period of at least 18 months, a significant portion of which is spent in oak barrels (as required by the strict Nizza regulations). This is followed by further rest in the bottle before release, which is essential for harmonizing all components.

Food Pairings This wine prefers rich and savory dishes. It pairs divinely with roasted red meats, wine-braised dishes, game, and stews. It is perfect to accompany great traditional Piedmontese first courses, such as agnolotti del plin with roast sauce, or aged and spicy hard cheeses. Also splendid as a meditation wine at the end of a meal.
