Castellare di Castellina is one of the iconic wineries of Chianti Classico, a benchmark for elegance, research, and respect for traditions. Among its most celebrated wines, I Sodi di San Niccolò stands out, a historic and iconic label, considered one of the first Supertuscans of purely native origin. Born in 1977, it still represents the ultimate expression of Sangiovese in its purest form, complemented by a small portion of Malvasia Nera, capable of adding further complexity.
The 2018 vintage, offered here in Magnum format, appears in the glass with a deep and luminous ruby red. The nose reveals an intense and layered bouquet: black cherry and dark cherry blend with notes of violet, tobacco, liquorice, and fine spices, with an elegant balsamic and mineral touch.
On the palate, it is broad and powerful, yet always elegant, with mature and velvety tannins that support a rich and harmonious sip. The lively freshness and very long persistence confirm its extraordinary evolutionary capacity, further enhanced by the Magnum format which prolongs its longevity and aromatic complexity.
A great Tuscan wine, a true symbol of identity and refinement, perfect to accompany important dishes based on red meats, game, and aged cheeses, but also ideal as a collector's and meditation bottle.
