Castellare di Castellina is one of the most representative wineries of Chianti Classico, always committed to enhancing indigenous grape varieties and its connection to the territory. Among its cult labels, I Sodi di San Niccolò stands out, created in 1977 as one of the first Supertuscans based exclusively on local varieties. The name refers to the rocky and difficult soils (sodi) and the ancient San Niccolò farm, from which the grapes originate.
The 2018 vintage presents an intense and brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, it offers complex and refined aromas: black cherry and ripe cherry intertwine with floral notes of violet, fine spices, tobacco, and licorice, with balsamic and mineral hints that underline its depth.
On the palate, it is powerful and enveloping, with ripe and silky tannins that support a solid yet elegant structure. The lively freshness provides balance, while the finish is long, layered, and persistent, confirming its extraordinary ability to evolve over time.
A great Tuscan red, capable of expressing the nobility of Sangiovese and immediately captivating, but also destined to offer new nuances with aging in the cellar.
