PRODUCT FEATURES

The 2023 Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore by Montezovo is a wine that combines the youthful vibrancy of fruit with the evolved structure of the "ripasso" technique. Produced by the Cottini family, this red wine is a benchmark for those seeking a full-bodied wine that expresses the complexity of Verona with a modern approach and impeccable technical clarity.

Montezovo - Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 2023

Montezovo's 2023 Ripasso Superiore is a wine with a generous and enveloping character. Its production follows the ancient Veronese tradition: the base Valpolicella is "repassed" over the Amarone pomace, which is still rich in sugars and noble aromatic precursors. This process gives the wine greater chromatic concentration, a more robust structure, and a bouquet enriched with notes of ripe fruit and spices. The 2023 vintage stands out for its splendid fruit integrity, maintaining a vibrant freshness that perfectly balances the extractive softness, making the sip dynamic and never heavy.

Sensory Profile In the glass, it presents an intense and deep ruby red color. The bouquet is broad and inviting: notes of black cherry, blackberry, and dark plum stand out, embellished with elegant hints of vanilla, cocoa, and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, the entry is warm and velvety; the tannic texture is dense but extremely smooth. The characteristic mineral savoriness of Montezovo's soils supports the structure, finishing with a long, clean, and pleasantly spicy finish reminiscent of black pepper.

Vinification and Aging The native grapes (Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella) are vinified in steel at controlled temperatures. Subsequently, the wine undergoes re-fermentation on the Amarone pomace for about 15 days. Aging continues for approximately 12 months in oak barrels, where the wine acquires stability and complexity, followed by a further period of rest in the bottle. This maturation allows the power of the ripasso to harmonize with the varietal elegance of the original grapes.

Food Pairings A red wine of great gastronomic versatility, perfect with structured dishes. It pairs magnificently with grilled red meats, roast beef, stews, and feathered game. Excellent with typical Venetian first courses, such as bigoli with duck ragù or flavorful risottos. It also ideally complements platters of cured meats and flavorful cheeses like aged Monte Veronese or Parmigiano Reggiano.
